"กระจังพรึง" เป็นส่วนประกอบหนึ่งของศาลาการเปรียญเก่าแก่ของวัดใหญ่สุวรรณาราม แกะสลักลวดลายทวยหน้าตั๊กแตน เป็น "กระจังพรึง" ที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในประเทศไทย

ศาลาการเปรียญ เป็นสถาปัตยกรรม-ศิลปกรรมยุคอยุธยาตอนปลาย สร้างด้วยไม้สักทั้งหลัง ผนังเป็นฝาปะกน มีหลังคามุขประเจิดประดับช่อฟ้าใบระกา ติดกระจกสี ด้านทิศตะวันตก ศาลาการเปรียญนี้ เดิมเป็นตำหนักที่ประทับของพระสรรเพชญ์ที่ 8 หรือพระเจ้าเสือ แห่งกรุงศรีอยุธยา รื้อถอนมาสร้างถวายพระสังฆราชแตงโม ชาวเพชรบุรี

วัดใหญ่สุวรรณาราม เป็นพระอารามหลวงชั้นตรี มีการปฏิสังขรณ์ในสมัยรัชกาลที่ 4 พระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว และ ในรัชสมัยของพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ 5 ทรงแต่งตั้งให้เป็นพระอารามหลวง ยังมีจุดที่สำคัญอีกหลายจุด เช่น หอระฆัง ศาลาทรงไทย หอไตรหลังเก่าอยู่กลางน้ำ ที่มีเสาเรียงกัน 3 ต้น พระอุโบสถภายในมีภาพเขียนเทพชุมนุม อายุกว่า 300 ปี พระพุทธรูปสัมฤทธิ์ พระบาทขวามีนิ้วเท้า 6 นิ้ว รูปหล่อพระสังฆราชแตงโม ชาวเพชรบุรี (วันที่เราไป ปิดปรับปรุงค่ะ )
