เดิมทีวัดนี้ชื่อว่า วัดสร้อยนางหงษ์ โดยชาวมอญที่อพยพมาจากกรุงหงสาวดี พม่านั่น และมาตั้งรกรากที่บริเวณนี้ จึงร่วมกันสร้างวัดนี้ขึ้นมา
Last time this temple name was Wat Sroi Nang-Hong by The Mon people migrated from Myanmar in Bago was moved to this area for where live and built this temple.
รูปปั้นสมเด็จพระพุฒาจารย์ (โต พรหมรังสี) หรือหลวงปู่โต ซึ่งสร้างมากว่า 10 ปีแล้ว ความสูง 28 ม.เป็นปางเทศนาธรรม

One side of the temple is Big Buddha Statue name is Luang Phor Sothorn, Base width of 24 meters, lap wide 19 meters and high 39 meters. But some site tell Base width of 24 meters, lap wide 16 meters and high 37 meters.
วัดอยู่ติดแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา จึงสามารถเดินทางมาทางเรือได้ด้วย และยังมีอาหารปลาจำหน่าย เพื่อเป็นทานแก่ปลาหน้าวัด
